Streaming Audio Player

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Developed for my 2nd year flash class, this streaming media player has every feature I could possibly think of.

Equalizer, volume control (the dial), pause/play/stop (of course), mute, replay and track time.  The songs stream from an easily editable file on the server, so they can be changed up in just a few clicks.

This code is very flexible, and could be used for a video player, or even to create flash-based web sites that are editable by anyone.

Pic-A-Pop Microsite Concept

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

The microsite was part of a group marketing challenge in college.  Our team developed the “what’s your flavour?” campaign, with the idea being that each flavour was best suited for a certain type of person, and this web site needed to evoke those feelings.  The site allows users to vote on which flavour they would like to see pic-a-pop create next (the demo version below does not actually log votes).  Created using a combination of Photoshop and Flash.

Online Learning System

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Part of the “Faculty of Fishing” site design, I developed a number of flash animated training lessons for the client.  Each lesson has a powerful control system that can collect non-invasive data from users about how the system is used, and will automatically record completion to a database, so courses can be managed through the FILMS Learning Management System.  In addition, there are a number of built in security features to protect the data from being downloaded and used on other sites.

6teen.ca

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

6teen.ca began as a hobby site for a television show my family and I enjoyed.  It became the official unofficial site for the show as we received thousands of visitors every month during the 5 years of the show’s run.

The site includes streaming video and audio, a completely user customizable episode guide, and was built to be extremely bandwidth efficient (to provide maximum performance at the lowest possible cost even when receiving huge amounts of monthly traffic).

The site is still around, even though the show is off the air, and still has a dedicated fan base.  Check it out at www.6teen.ca!

Fashion Face-Off Demo

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

After I had developed 6teen.ca, I had a number of requests to create games for the site.  I created a number of different games, but “Fashion Face-Off” was the most complex.

In this game, you try to purchase the best clothing for the character (based on their mood, which changes on each play) with limited cash and limited time.  You’re then rated on how “fashionable” you are at the end of the level.  The game turned out to be a very popular addition to the site!

Faculty of Fishing Web Design

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

The Faculty of Fishing has been my largest project to date, spanning 18+ pages, each with a unique layout.

The site integrates flash, streaming video, javascript, php and asp seamlessly, and is fully cross-browser compatible.

The inspiration for this project was my CORE redesign, but the project has evolved significantly from that initial concept, and now includes content management and seemless integration with the client’s learning management system.

CORE Training & Therapy Redesign

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

CORE had a simple design, and as a challenge, I wanted to create a dynamic piece that merged 3D animation, Flash, and standard HTML code, to create a site that felt friendly and alive, without making the site entirely flash based.

I also tried to create a piece that was entirely unique.

FILMS: Learning Management System

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

For my major first term project in college, I developed a complete learning management system from scratch.  This system has a simple, but entirely customizable appearance, and a complete administration panel with detailed reporting.  I also implemented a number of security features and a fully operational online store in order to make the product a one-stop shop for everything a client might need.
